João Bruno Soeiro is a Portuguese Music Composer, Producer, Audio Engineer and Pianist.

As a composer, his work includes the thriller “O Ídolo” (Blanche Filmes), the romantic comedy “Alguém Como Eu” (Gullane/Stopline) or the documentaries “Churchill in Madeira” (History Channel) and “Vizinhos Vicini Buren Nachbarn Neighbours” (SIC), the latter a commission for the Venice Biennale. Before that, he wrote additional music for the thriller “Wake Me Up” (Cinetrain) and played the piano solos for the drama “The Lost Reflection” (RFG).

He also writes music for advertisement, which gets a kick out of him, because of the condensed intensity of the creative and collaborative process. Clients include Samsung, TAP Air Portugal, LIDL, Fnac and EDP.

As a songwriter, arranger, producer or recording engineer, João has worked with many different artists, such as indie singer/songwriter Cristóvam, flutist/singer/composer Rasika Shekar, pop group Serebro, rock singer/songwriter Vyacheslav Butusov or jazz guitarist and composer Alexey Kuznetsov.

In film sound, he’s particularly keen on working with actors' voices as a dialogue and ADR engineer/recordist, editor and mixer. This has given him the chance to work in such productions as “Life” (Columbia Pictures), “Hunter Killer” (Relativity/Summit), “The Americans” (Amblin/Dreamworks), “Riviera” (Archery Pictures) or "McMafia" (BBC).

In parallel, he keeps working as an audio designer and re-recording mixer in several films, such as the animation feature “Savva. Heart of the Warrior” (Art Pictures).

João is the Head of Music at Musiversal, running the Music Department’s operations, curating and managing its roster of musicians and engineers and producing orchestral sessions for clients such as Taylor Eigsti or Sissel Kyrkjebø.

Before that, he worked for almost 4 years at CineLab SoundMix, in Moscow, the world-class audio post-production branch of CineLab, Russia's biggest and most successful private-owned film studio. This allowed him to gain massive experience as a producer and audio engineer, both from a technical and artistic point of view, as he worked with and learned from the majority of Russia's biggest names in the industry, as well as international names like Vincent Arnardi, Michael Wabro or Howell Gibbens. It, furthermore, allowed him to gain deep comprehension of the international film industry and all its standards and protocols, since SoundMix regularly works in major productions with companies like Sony Pictures Entertainment, Paramount Pictures or the Walt Disney Company.

João was also in the inception of SoundMix's Music Studio/Scoring Stage, as he contributed for its finishing, opening and development into one of Russia's main music recording studios, performing roles of technical consultant, music contractor, producer and recording engineer. He keeps collaborating with the studio to this day in diverse projects.

In 2013 he was awarded a scholarship to study at Berklee College of Music, Valencia Campus, from where he graduated with honours with a Master's degree in Scoring for Film, Television and Video Games. There he had the chance to learn from and be guided by such names as Lucio Godoy, Alfons Conde, Vanessa Garde, Ben Houge, Ben Cantil and Constantino Martínez Orts. In consequence of his engagement with Berklee and also due to his profound interest in teaching, communicating and public speaking, he was invited to give a talk at the very first TEDx BerkleeValencia, which was called "Passion is not enough".

João was born in Lisbon, Portugal, in 1983, and raised in that same city. He only started studying music at the age of 19, at the Academia de Amadores de Musica, but his enthusiasm for this form of art, together with his hard-work and determination, led him to be accepted at the prestigious Gnessin Academy of Music, in Moscow, in 2009, to the piano studio of Professor Maria Gambarian, one of Russia's most legendary living pianists and pedagogues. He concluded his Bachelor's degree in Piano Performance there in 2013.

He has released a solo album, “Vizinhos”, under his heteronym B.U.B.A, on mpmp, a non-profit Portuguese label. The album is the OST for the aforementioned documentary with the same name, with the cover designed by Pritzker Prize winner architect Álvaro Siza Vieira, who is the film’s subject.

Apart from working in music for visual media, João is also very interested in collaborating with all performative arts from theatre and dance to figure skating and art installations. In that light, he encourages all artists to engage in contact with him, as he's always very excited to start new projects with new people.
